Chinese sayings again: love and reputation

juin 10th, 2009

Chinese sayings about kissing and reputation…

The first one sounds beautiful, romantic and is probably true, the second is the one that anyone should follow in his life. Reputation and others’ judgement don’t matter. What matters is to make your own life happy and, by the way, make others’ life as happy as possible. It might sound a little selfish, but I think that if you reach your own happiness, you will make all the people you love happy.

Enough talk, here are the chinese quotes:

Kissing is like drinking salted water: you drink and your thirst increases”

“Don’t consider your reputation and you may do anything you like”

Famous Chinese proverb: Lao Zi

juin 4th, 2009

From now on, and since that first article, I will try to find the most famous chinese proverbs, well at least those I like the most, and share all these quotations with you. There will be really short ones, but it doesn’t matter, chinese philosophers didn’t really need many words to say wise sentences.

« Running a large country is like cooking a small fish. »

I’m not a philosopher and I might not understand the meaning of this sentence from Lao Zi, but I guess it means that each of us has talents, skills, and even a man who can run a country might not be able to cook a fish.

Clixpy : Usability tool for tracking visitor’s behavior

mai 13th, 2009

Clixpy.com

Clipxy is a very useful tool for anyone who owns a website. It lets you track everything a visitor is doing on you page, clicks, mouse movements, during a whole session. It looks like they are not providing any aggregated information (like a summuray of users’ behavior on a page) but I guess they can make something like that quite fast.

With this tracking system, you can learn a lot about what users are doing on your website and, eventually, make changes to improve you website usability.

Clixpy installation is reaaaaally simple. Subscribe and get an account in less than a minute, copy paste the javascript code and it’s live. No need to wait 3 hours to get your first sessions!

The first 10 sessions are free, then you have to invest some of your money to enjoy it everyday!

Have fun!

Wanna hunt a new username? Good luck!

Would you rather go to…

août 28th, 2008

I’ll be back in Paris around October, 3rd and I’m planning to travel for a week. Well, I just want to change the usual Beijing/Paris <=> Paris/Beijing trip and include a new destination between them, but I’ll still be working… Whatever, I’m wondering: “Which city should I visit first?”

Any advice or personal experience about one of these city?

Beijing Olympic Games 2008 : We are ready!

juillet 31st, 2008

A few days ago, I went near the Bird’s Nest to take some photos with the whole Tongo.asia team. Though it took us almost 2 hours an a half to get there (because of the security measures, the fact that the Olympic subway line is only opened for the staff and that volunteers could hardly say how to reach the stadium), we could finally take some nice pictures. Here’s one:

And here’s a funny photo taken the same day:

I like the shy-looking girl who’s wondering “What the hell am I doing in there?” and the big bulldozer in the back of the photo that seems to say “Yes, we are ready… well, almost”!

By the way, it hardly possible to get a clear picture with Beijing weather/pollution mix…

WoozTalk : Meet you World Wide Web neighbors

juillet 26th, 2008

The World Wide Web is now composed of so many different kind of websites. Beautiful designs, great ideas, nice products, big communities, learning platforms and so on. To sum up: people are visiting websites, and loving them!

Ok! So let say that the aspect of websites is evolving. But the idea is still quite the same: you, yourself, with your computer, at home (or at work, you lazzy little thing), are visiting websites. But, hey… there are a lot of people out there visiting the websites you are on!

Wouldn’t that be a wonderful thing to be able to share whatever you want with these guys? Share advices, talk about a common passion, meet friends enjoying the same things than you: that’s what WoozTalk is all about!

Just need to install a Messenger like software, add a plugin to your favorite browser (included in the installation kit), and you’re done! Then, when you visit a website with people using WoozTalk, you can chat with them. A small message indicates how many WoozTalker are on the website and a list of every website appears in the messenger window.

That’s beyong great, don’t you think?

Scour.com : Google, Yahoo, Msn and earnings

juillet 20th, 2008

Ok, that’s quite interesting. I’ve just discovered a few days ago Scour.com. Scour is a search engine that aggregates results from Google, Yahoo and MSN, and ads its own algorithm to rank pages. As a daily user of Google, I’d say that it’s amazing for four reasons.

Scour.com

First of all, getting results from the three major search engines at the same time (actually you get the rank of the result in each search engine) sounds like a great thing. Indeed, you can see the rank of each result in each search engine. Then, having a result with great ranks in each search engine is kind of a guarantee that the website is the one you’re looking for, and is a good one.

Second, you can add your own advice about a website: say if it’s good or not, and even add your own comment. And Scour says that the rank of a page could change depending on users rates and comments, as soon as there are enough of them. So you can actually participate and make the search engine better.

Third, you get rewarded for your searches! That’s new to me and it’s amazing! I’m querying Google hundreds times a day, so that work can finally become useful! 6500 Scour points give you 25$. Not much, but better than nothing!

Last point, it’s fresh! Simple but beautiful. I like it!

Ok, it’s a bit slower, but nice though. You should have a look and subscribe here!
